"You've got the tomato and basil flavours and the little bit of creaminess from the mozzarella brine which I think works really well with the savouries in the gin," Hannah says. "It's a very nice, savoury tomato martini based on a delicious summer salad."


Caprese martini recipe

  • 4 cherry tomatoes
    quartered
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 60ml gin
  • 10ml dry vermouth
  • 2.5ml mozzarella brine
  • ice
  • olive oil
    to serve
  • skewer mini mozzarella balls, basil and cherry tomatoes
    to serve

Method

  • step 1

    Put the quartered cherry tomatoes and basil leaves in a cocktail glass and gently muddle.

  • step 2

    Add the gin, dry vermouth and mozzarella brine. Gently stir and leave for 10 minutes for the flavours to mingle and infuse.

  • step 3

    Add some ice and shake well, then double-strain into a chilled martini or coupe glass. Drizzle with a little olive oil and serve with the skewer of mini mozzarella balls, basil and cherry tomatoes.
